Have you read about the important changes happening to your Social Security account login?
Soon, you will no longer be able to sign in to your online Social Security account using your Social Security username and password. To access Social Security online services, including "my Social Security," you will need to create a Login.gov or ID.me account. According to SSA.gov, this change aims to simplify your sign-in experience and align with federal authentication standards while providing safe and secure access to online services.
If you already use a Login.gov or ID.me account to sign in, no action is required. To transition your account, go to the "Sign in" section at the top of the Social Security website and select "Sign in with Social Security Username."

After successfully signing in, you will be prompted to create an account with Login.gov. Login.gov offers 24/7 customer phone and chat support to assist with any questions or help with account creation.
Once you successfully link your Social Security username with your new Login.gov account, you will see a confirmation screen and be directed to the service you were trying to access. You can then start using your new Login.gov account immediately to access Social Security online services, as your old Social Security username will no longer be available.
It is important to keep up to date on these recent changes to your account login in order to ensure that your information is secure, yet accessible for you.
