Spring Cleaning

April 15, 2026

Spring is in the air! Temperatures are rising, rain showers are bringing everything back to life, and suddenly there’s a little extra motivation to freshen things up. There’s something about opening the windows, letting in that fresh air and sunlight, and pairing it with a clean, organized space that just feels right.

Whether it’s your home, your car, your workspace, or even your schedule, spring is the perfect time to clear out the remnants of a long winter and start fresh.

Decluttering Your Space

The easiest place to start is with the quick wins. We all have those little piles that seem to grow over time—old paperwork, outdated bills, and unread flyers. Whatever the reason they’ve built up, now is a great time to clear them out and reclaim that space.

At home, it’s also the perfect opportunity to swap out the seasons. Pack away the heavy winter clothes and take a look at what you didn’t wear this year. If it’s been sitting in your closet untouched, it might be time to let it go.

Setting aside a donation bin with unwanted clothes is a simple way to keep the decluttering momentum going and provide a need to someone else.

Cleaning Tips That Actually Stick

Sometimes the hardest part of cleaning is just getting started, so having the right tools on hand can make all the difference. Here are some of my cleaning essentials:

Pair this cleaning tools with your favorite playlist and a treat waiting for you at the end, and suddenly it feels a bit more manageable.

If cleaning still feels like a chore (you’re not alone!), try focusing on small, realistic wins:

  • 15-minute quick cleans. Set a timer for 15 minutes and see how much you can get done undistracted!
  • Declutter as you go
  • One task each week. Some examples include: Sorting through kitchen drawers, deep cleaning the fridge, organizing the pantry, etc.

It doesn’t have to be perfect or done all at once. Small steps really do add up—and they often lead to that satisfying feeling of progress.

Digital Organization

These days, clutter isn’t just physical. Our phones and computers tend to collect just as much “stuff” as our homes do. Spring is a great time to tidy up these digital spaces as well:

  • Email Inbox (I'm guilty of keeping too many read messages in there)
  • Photo Library
  • Online Files

It can also be a good opportunity to revisit your cybersecurity habits by updating your passwords and reviewing your account settings. A little time here can go a long way in keeping things organized and secure.

Refresh Your Environment and Your Routine

Once things are tidied up, it’s amazing how much a few small changes can refresh your space. Adding flowers, bringing in a bit of seasonal décor, or simply opening the windows can make everything feel lighter and more inviting!

And spring isn’t just for cleaning spaces, it is a great time to reset routines, too. The new year is not the only time to set healthy goals.

Take a look at your daily habits and give yourself a fresh start:

  • Get outside for a walk
  • Try something active like pickleball
  • Revisit your budget and recurring expenses

Sometimes the smallest resets can make the biggest difference.

Make It Count

Spring cleaning looks different for everyone—and that’s okay. For some, it’s tackling closets and deep cleaning the house. For others, it’s resetting routines or getting finances back on track.

The important thing is to focus on what you need most right now. Whether that’s starting a donation box with old items, deep cleaning the bathroom, adjusting your budget, or simply getting to bed a little earlier, every step forward counts.

Start small, keep it simple, and enjoy all the fresh starts along the way.
